Crucita Arrival

This was in March 31, 2015
We continued on through the cloud forest for 3 more hours and then started our descent. You could feel the difference in the temperature immediately. Humidity and heat. We started seeing banana palm trees. All kinds of other trees. We learned that there are different provinces in Ecuador. Can't remember the exact amount right now but they all have there own government just like our provinces in Canada and they have some provinces that are richer than another and the roads will be better in some than others. Interesting. Guillo is a wonderful wealth of knowledge as a guide. He also knows the best places to stop to buy some food and booze for the condo. In Puerto Viejo, a city outside Crucita we found everything we needed. Limes a dozen for a dollar. Did I mention that I brought down limes in my luggage. I paid $5 for 3 at home at Metro and transported them all the way to South America just to be sure I would be able to have limes in my beer.  Vern is still bugging me about that one. Actually later on we found people selling them on the side of the street 100 for $3. Ah well. Ya, they grow on every ones trees apparently. So Rum $10 big bottle. Wine $3.50. Needless to say we stocked up on that stuff.

Got to our condo. Right on the beach. Had to climb up 48 stairs to the 4th floor. Our room is actually 3B but they don't start 1st floor till you are up one level. Realized just how out of shape I am. I hurt my foot in November and then have done nothing in the way of physical exercise since. Well can't say that I was very good before that. We have a lovely 3 bedroom condo with a deck. Nice granite counter tops. Frig, stove, blender, stereo. We are all set. We really realize how much we need Guillo in this country where basically no one speaks English. He is going to stay with us and sleep on the couch. Awesome. He is such a great guy. Everyone getting along just fine. A little grumbling over who gets what room but nothing too bad. I took the room no one else wanted and it seems fine. Unfortunately, there is no air conditioning but we left all doors and windows open and all slept like babies listening to the sound of the waves.
